Equality

obama gay straight

Marriage equality is the issue at the Supreme Court today.  I wish there was a way to take a photograph of my Facebook page today.  Everywhere I looked I saw this image:

equality

Friends were posting quotes like, “I’m straight but not narrow” and “I support gay marriage”.  I am so happy that so many of my friends have the same beliefs that I do.  I believe that all citizens should have the same rights.  If you aren’t hurting anyone, then who on this earth can say what you do is right or wrong?.  Who are we to judge?

Legalizing same-sex marriage is the kind thing to do.

I believe that we are all brothers and sisters and that we need to love and respect each other. I believe, however, that gay marriage does hurt our society and that’s why I can’t stand behind legalizing it. I’m not a hater, I just don’t support gay marriage.

      Rachel,
I thought that it was so ironic,(not sure if that is the right word), that you and I posted on facebook at almost the same time. I read your link as well. I think that respect and love are most important and it seems like in that way we do agree, even if we are not completely on the same page.

Just clicked on your tag of ‘equality’ and am delighted with your great posts! It is a topic in need of discussion to help bring it into the light for healing. Thank you for sharing about it!! I stand by my own belief that discrimination is archaic and will fade away, as we evolve and grow into a more accepting and peace-loving people. May we all learn to allow those who are different than we are and accept ‘otherness’. May peace prevail. Blessings, Gina

Thank you Gina. My husband and my boys all believe, as you do, that discrimination should not be tolerated. I just wish more people were tolerant of one another.
