One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time, one woman in America dies from Breast Cancer every 13 minutes and 39,620 women are expected to die from breast cancer in the U.S. during 2013.
These are scary statistics. October, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so today was a day for the teachers at our school do our part, to help make progress in research for Breast Cancer. All of the teachers in our building, paid money to wear pink and jeans. The money that we collected will go towards research to help to find a cure.
This year, I participated in two other events that supported breast cancer research. One in August, and one in September. Unfortunately there is not a lot I can do financially to help, but it is my hope that all of these little things that I do, will make a difference in some way. Spreading the word is also key. Being proactive and having mammograms is so important. Someday, there will be a cure. I just hope that it is sooner rather than later and that all the little things that people can do to help fund research will be helpful in getting there.
