Time Well Spent

Earlier this morning, I was taking an exercise class at a new place in town…which I LOVE.  I finished up my “Hula Dancing” class, (so hard, but so fun,) and there was a text message on my phone from my 16 year old son DJ asking me if we could go Christmas shopping.  Both kids, wanting to spend the day with me?!?!?  I could not pass it up.  As they have been getting older, I find these days few and far between.  We always make a point of eating dinner together several times a week as a family, but actually going out and doing stuff with mom?  It has been awhile!

I jumped at the opportunity of course, ran home, took a quick shower and out the door we headed.  Conversation, lunch and Christmas shopping with the kids.  I could not have asked for a better afternoon.   I read today that there are only 940 Saturdays between a child’s birth and her leaving for college! DJ leaves for college in less than two years!!  I need to grab these occasions whenever I can!  An afternoon of quality time – and I actually think that they may have enjoyed as much as I did, even if they’d never admit to it!
