This has been a tough week to get through with the anniversary of my mom’s death. I have a lot on my mind. I feel like I have been swamped at work, at home and just in general. Because of that, I forgot a good friend’s birthday today. I feel terribly. I knew it was this week. I even had lunch with her in the teacher’s room today and said nothing. A little while ago I sent her a text message and told her how sorry I am. Of course, it is not a big deal to her…but it is to me. I like being on top of these things!!
In Lewis Carroll’s book “Through the Looking Glass,” Humpty Dumpty proclaims,
“There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents, and only one for birthday presents, you know.”
So, we will go out for her “un-birthday” and celebrate soon. It won’t be on her real birthday but that doesn’t matter. We will celebrate as if it is. For me, spending time with friends is the best gift of all. I know she feels that way too so for now, tonight’s blog is for her,
Happy Birthday CVT!! I am so glad to be your friend!

This made me smile. I’m terrible at remembering birthdays – and for all sorts of reasons make the rule for myself (and others) to celebrate birthdays for at least a week either side!! A larger target for the likes of me to aim for! It’s also fun to surprise good friends with unbirthday presents at really odd random times in the year… they know me too well now, and are very, very forgiving… Ruth
We like to call it our “birthday month” at our house!!
Aw that’s raising the bar! I’ll try it on my friends… 🙂
