The month of December is one of my favorite times of the year. The build up to Christmas and Drew’s birthday keep us pretty busy and other than the cold weather, it is one of those months I wish could go on forever. There is so much festivity, so much celebration…I just love it. Yesterday, DJ was wrapping Christmas gifts and he told me that this year is the first year he is more excited to be giving presents than he is to be getting them! He has put a lot of thought and effort into all of the gifts he has bought and I think he is really feeling the spirit of Christmas. Drew too….although he has more than 50 items on his Amazon Wish List, so for him it is not only giving but still receiving! All of us love surprises so although we all know there are gifts hidden around the house, none of us snoop around for them. It is so much better to be surprised on Christmas morning.
As we drove home after dinner tonight, we passed houses ablaze in holiday lights and Dave turned on the Christmas music in the car. We won’t get our tree until sometime later this week or on the weekend. That’s when our decorating will begin. We have lots of busy days and evenings ahead. I look forward to each one of them because as one of my favorite holiday songs reminds me, it truly is, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”
