Future Investment, today’s photo prompt. A bit appropriate at the end of my February sales month for Chloe + Isabel. I am absolutely loving working for this company. They are so good to their merchandisers and offer training and incentives and so much support. I have been with the company for just about two months. I am still in my “Fast Start” program. That ends in just three days. On Monday night’s sales call, I was actually named in the top 10 for fast starters! That gives me even more incentive to work harder at this business. This will never be my full time job. Teaching is my passion and what I am meant to do, but c + i gives me the opportunity to do more of what I love – socializing!
I know that at home selling isn’t the easiest thing, and that I may have good months and bad ones, but the initial investment has seemed worth it so far. I will have to keep updating my inventory, spending some of my profits, but with each party I have, I earn more “bonus dollars” to spend as well.
I will never make a fortune or strike it rich working with c+i, but it does help with all those little extras. Once DJ goes to college, I am sure it will be glad to have it as well!
I have three days till the end of February. There are contests and offers for all last minute sales and parties. If you are interested, check out my link. Ask me questions. Book an in person party if you are local. Book an online party if you are not. I know we could make it fun! The hostess incentives are amazing!
As most of you know, I have become a merchandiser for Chloe + Isabel Jewelry. Basically that’s a fancy way of saying, I sell jewelry at home parties!! Although with the internet I also can sell online! At c+i, we call at party a “Pop Up.” I have had two small pop ups so far. One with my best friend Kelly for a bunch of her friends. It was supposed to be huge, but a big ice storm in January kept that from happening. It still did really well though even with only a few guests. Then, about two weeks ago, a coworker of mine decided to hold a party for the teachers at our school. Another small party but another success! Tonight, I am doing my first “Big” Pop-Up. It is at my house and an open house. I invited lots of people from all areas of my life. I am hoping to get a lot of parties booked from it. My goal is two parties a month. If I can get more – awesome, but I am trying to keep it realistic and start out small. Tonight, the cards seemed to be stacked against me. First, the party was scheduled to be at my dad’s house. A much bigger home than mine that could fit many more people. With him only home from the rehab center for a day, that wasn’t really a possibility anymore so now, we have moved it to my little home. There may be a lot of us, but we will be cozy. I will make it work. It also happens to be the coldest day of the year. Temperatures were at zero this morning. Very cold for New Jersey! So, fingers are crossed that tonight is another success. I have amazing friends and even if no one buys anything, I love that I am getting the word out there about chloe + isabel. My goal tonight is to book at least one in home party. I’d love to get more, but again….start small. If you are in the area, stop by. I’d love to show you the merchandise. Get out of the cold, grab a drink and some snacks. Come socialize and look at pretty jewelry. It will be fun no matter what the outcome. Anyone reading this that is not in the area that would love to earn free jewelry without having to do a thing….contact me. The stuff is gorgeous and chloe + isabel make it very easy to get it for nothing!! Plus, there’s not much better than shopping in your pajamas.
“Resolve” today’s photo prompt, made me think of my many commitments/projects that I take on. This year, I resolve to make them all work. To make sure that my life, while always busy, is balanced. My family, teaching, photography, blogging, my chloe + isabel jewelry plus all of the charitable work I enjoy doing. I will find a way to make it fit.
If I am not busy doing something, I am not complete. I don’t sit still. I can’t sit still. It is who I am and I like it that way 🙂
Balance – What a perfect word for today’s photo prompt. I woke early this morning to rain hitting the windows in my bedroom. I had taken Emmy Lou for a late walk last night and she slept downstairs. Her usual place at the bottom of my bed was empty and I actually wound up sleeping until 7 am! Late for me. Since Em was still sleeping downstairs on her pillow, I was able to shower and get dressed before she needed her morning walk.
Around 8, I got her bundled into her raincoat and we headed out the front door. One step onto the slate steps and down we both tumbled, losing our balance on the sheet of ice that deceived us as we stepped out the door. I had definitely chosen the wrong boots for the day choosing style over practical! I had no idea that the rain had created a layer of ice coating absolutely everything. We both picked ourselves up and attempted to walk down the sidewalk, making it about ten steps before we were both down on the ground again. Her little paws couldn’t get a grip on the ground. We even attempted walking on the grass which wasn’t much better. She wanted to get back inside even more than I did but she couldn’t get herself back up the icy steps. Her little paws had no traction and I had to kneel on the bottom step in order to lift her to the top before crawling up the rest myself.
I changed into safer boots, got the pet safe ice melt and sprinkled it all over the front steps and sidewalk before coming back inside to turn on the news to see how long this unexpected freeze was going to last. Road closures, accidents, reports of dangerous conditions are all the top stories. All over Facebook friends are reporting how dangerous the roads are and how many of them are stranded, leaving their cars parked while attempting to walk home which was not much safer.
I am supposed to have my first chloe + isabel party at my best friend’s house today. I had been looking forward to this for weeks. She had invited so many people, it was bound to be a huge success. So far, we have postponed it just until later in the day when temperatures are supposed to rise significantly. Fingers crossed that it works out and we can still have it, but better to be safe so we will see how it goes in the next few hours.
Stay safe out there.
When I saw the photo prompt for today, My Gear, I knew right away that I would take a photo of my camera equipment. I don’t have a lot of it, but what I have, I love!
Then, I got home from work and sitting at my front door was a box with “chloe + isabel” written across it. MY NEW GEAR!! My starter kit from c+i! I was like a little kid at Christmas! I ripped open the box and unwrapped each of those pieces and then browsed through the catalog. I have been playing around with it trying to figure out how to best display the pieces. I am going to have to learn some design strategies now! Something I have never excelled in but will discover how to now!
Immediately I changed my mind and decided that I’d photograph this instead.
My friend Lidia has even offered me a chance to share it with others at her studio on Saturday. I am so grateful for that! I hope others like it as much as I do and want to host parties where they can get their own free jewelry. The jewelry is better than I even expected it to be and I cannot wait to begin to share it!
Today’s photo prompt is Think Over which I thought was perfect for today. As I think about the past few days and my decision to start something new working for chloe + isabel. I am getting more and more excited about it. It won’t become a huge money maker for us, but it can be those little extras that we sometimes do without. I spoke with my lead merchandiser on the phone and by the end of our call, it felt like we were old friends. I am excited to be working for a company with such a wonderful community.
Another thing we sat and had to Think Over today was our decision to watch our favorite college football team get slaughtered during their bowl game. Ugh. Devastating to be on the losing end but we were lucky enough to get to watch the game with our best friends. This photo is of our Emmy Lou who I believe is “thinking over” our normally quiet house that was overrun with company today!!
Great fun for us….something Emmy Lou will need some getting used to!
